Sustainability.

We believe that long-term success comes with long-term responsibility. That’s why we’ve embedded sustainability into our strategy — with clear objectives, measurable actions, and a commitment to transparency. Guided by strong environmental, social, and governance principles, we’re working to create lasting value for our people, our partners, and the planet.

Sustainability is more than a guiding principle — it’s a fundamental part of our corporate strategy and long-term vision. Through our “NFON Next 2027” strategy, we embrace digitalisation as a force for good, driving sustainable and profitable growth while empowering people and businesses across Europe.

Our milestones.

We’re making meaningful progress in integrating sustainability into our operations. We focus on delivering cloud-based, AI-enhanced communication solutions that support both profitable growth and environmental responsibility, helping reduce emissions while enabling digital transformation.

This marks a notable improvement from a D rating in early 2024, highlighting meaningful progress in how we disclose and manage climate-related impacts.

Our targets.

At NFON, sustainability means shaping progress transparently, responsibly, and with lasting impact.

NFON’s ESG strategy is aligned with global standards such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement, with a strong focus on climate action, employee well-being, responsible governance, and customer trust. Our climate strategy, guided by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) criteria, is already driving emissions reductions, operational improvements, and a shift toward energy efficiency and renewable energy, even as formal validation is pending.

Environmental policy.

A clear guideline for sustainable decision-making — embedded in NFON’s strategy, processes, and goals across daily operations.

Net zero target by 2050.

NFON is committed to reducing total greenhouse gas emissions by 90% by 2050, using 2022 as the baseline year.

Energy efficiency and certification.

NFON is implementing an ISO 50001-based energy management system to reduce energy use and environmental impact across data centres and offices.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) policy.

We promote an inclusive, equitable workplace and support this commitment as a signatory of the “Charta der Vielfalt”.

Gender diversity.

We aim for women to represent at least one-third of the workforce by 2030—a target nearly met in 2024 with 33% already achieved.

Employee satisfaction.

We aim for 80% employee satisfaction by 2030 through regular feedback and a supportive work environment.

Learning and development.

NFON aims for all employees and managers to complete at least one annual training on leadership, diversity, or ESG by 2030.

Zero tolerance for corruption and misconduct.

NFON enforces strict anti-corruption standards, supported by a whistleblower system and guided by its Code of Ethics and Conduct.

Certified information security and privacy.

We're actively reducing and offsetting greenhouse gas emissions. By optimizing business travel and using rail for domestic trips, we minimize our carbon footprint.

Annual training on compliance and data protection.

By 2030, all employees will be required to complete at least one annual training focused on data protection, cybersecurity, and compliance.

Our commitment to SDGs.

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are at the heart of the UN’s 2030 Agenda for a sustainable future. At NFON, we believe we can make a meaningful contribution, particularly to goals 5, 8, 9, 13, and 17.

5 Gender equality.

We see gender equality as fundamental to building an inclusive workplace and fostering diverse talent at NFON.

8 Decent work and economic growth.

We believe sustainable growth is key to driving innovation, creating quality jobs, and ensuring long-term resilience in the cloud communication sector.

9 Industry, innovation and infrastructure.

We see innovation in tech and telecom as a key driver of a low-carbon, efficient, and digitally connected future — enabling smarter, more sustainable communication solutions.

13 Climate action.

We recognise that the tech industry contributes 2–3% of global CO₂ emissions, making decarbonisation a critical priority on our path to a more sustainable future.

17 Partnerships for the goals.

We believe collaboration is essential to accelerating sustainable transformation and driving meaningful change in the cloud communications industry.

Yes, I'm currently in the lead. But actually, I just enjoy training – and if we can support our project with SOS Children's Villages Worldwide at the same time, that's the icing on the cake. My points come not only from walking, but also from cycling. Every day, I speed to the gym on my racing bike, and the faster I go, the more kilometers I rack up with every detour. My inner couch potato? It took flight long ago.

Dominik Halkenhäuser

Our #1 Runner

I have worked with SOS Children's Villages worldwide in the past, and it is always heartwarming to see how even small actions can make a difference in other people's lives. I think the NFON Step Challenge is a very creative and entertaining way to support the digitization project in India. Especially given the mostly monotonous and sedentary nature of everyday office life, this challenge is a great motivation to stay active and move more.

Patricia Auricht Barroso

It amazes me how every single step we take can create such a powerful impact! The NFON Step Challenge combines lots of fun with a great cause and motivates us all to be more conscious of our everyday exercise. With our sponsored digitalization project in India, we are not only creating new opportunities for young people, but also getting things moving within the company—a win-win situation for everyone!

Marla Hajnrih

I think the NFON Step Challenge is a great idea. Under the motto “Achieving great things together,” every kilometer I walk brings me closer to my personal goal and helps me give children in SOS Children's Villages a better future. The campaign has also been very well received by my colleagues, and we have already been able to launch several internal competitions. Here, commitment really does pay off in more ways than one!

Michael Schoner

I am very excited to participate in this step challenge with NFON: It is a great way to stay active while supporting a good cause. Exercise is an important part of my daily routine; it helps me stay motivated, clear my head, and manage stress. Knowing that every step also contributes to digital education in India through SOS Children's Villages worldwide makes it even more rewarding. I am proud to be running for a good cause!
